WA Youth Symphonic Band

Since its inception in 2004, the Western Australian Symphonic Youth Band (WAYSB) provides an outstanding opportunity for advanced young woodwind, brass and percussion musicians.

In 2009 the Symphonic Band was conducted by leading band specialists Bruce Herriman and Paul De Cinque, and performed at Winthrop Hall, UWA and for the first time at the Perth Concert Hall.The Band also won the A Grade Concert Band division at the 2009 State Band Festival at Perth Modern School.

This ensemble provides a fantastic opportunity for students to continue to develop their musical skills and rehearse and perform classic and contemporary symphonic band repertoire under the guidance of experienced musical directors.

In 2010 it is anticipated that the Symphonic Band will increase its number of concerts and perform outside the Perth metropolitan region, in addition to its concerts at Winthrop Hall and the Perth Concert Hall.
