The Western Australian Youth Orchestra (WAYO) is the Association's premier ensemble. Recognised as one of the finest youth orchestras in Australia, it features some of the State's most talented young musicians.
Since being founded in 1974, WAYO alumni now occupy significant positions in every major orchestra in Australia. With up to 100 players, WAYO is able to perform the finest in large-scale symphonic works. In 2010 WAYO's repertoire is set to include major classical works and premières of Australian compositions. 2010 activities will feature three major performances at the Perth Concert Hall, including a special July season conducted by Russian maestro Vladimir Verbitsky, and a large-scale outdoor concert at Burswood Park.
Under the direction of eminent Musical Director, Peter Moore OAM, 2010 is shaping up to be an exciting year. WAYO members will also benefit from an extensive tutorial program, with tutors drawn from the ranks of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
