Collegium String Orchestra

The Collegium String Orchestra is an ensemble dedicated to learning and performing both high quality string orchestra music and original compositions.

The Orchestra performs regularly at Fremantle Town Hall and other major venues around Perth. In 2009 the Collegium was involved in several School Outreach Concerts and performed premières of works composed specifically for the ensemble by Australian composers such as Iain Grandage. These are initiatives set to continue in the 2010 season.

The Collegium, under the musical direction of leading string pedagogue, Grace Ah-Quee, provides the perfect springboard from which many members progress into the Philharmonic Orchestra and beyond.

Rehearsals are held on Saturday mornings at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts from 9:00am-12:00pm. A minimum competency level of AMEB Grade 4 is required. For application and audition details, please contact WA Youth Music on 9328 9859.
